This is a cute email I received recently. I hate forwards...but this one is worth sharing!! Why Parents Drink was the title.
The boss wondered why one of his most valued employee had not phoned in sick one day. Having an urgent problem with one of the main computers, he dialed the employee's home phone number and was greeted with a child's whisper. "Hello ? "
"Is your daddy home?" he asked.
" Yes ," whispered the small voice.
May I talk with him?"
The child whispered, " No ."
Surprised and wanting to talk with an adult, the boss asked, "Is your Mommy there?"
"Yes."
"May I talk with her?"
Again the small voice whispered, "No ."
Hoping there was somebody with whom he could leave a message, the boss asked, "Is anybody else there?"
" Yes ," whispered the child, " a policeman ".
Wondering what a cop would be doing at his employee's home, the boss asked, "May I speak with the policeman?"
" No, he's busy ", whispered the child.
"Busy doing what?"
" Talking to Daddy and Mommy and the Fireman ," came the whispered answer.
Growing more worried as he heard a loud noise in the background through the earpiece on the phone, the boss asked, "What is that noise?"
" A helicopter " answered the whispering voice.
"What is going on there?" demanded the boss, now truly apprehensive.
Again, whispering, the child answered, " The search team just landed a helicopter ."
Alarmed, concerned and a little frustrated the boss asked, "What are they searching for?"
Still whispering, the young voice replied with a muffled giggle...
" ME ."

Peepee in the Potty
All three of us are under the weather to some degree. Ryan has basically recovered but Carter and I both have sinus infections. I had to go do some work today, so Ryan stayed home to hang out with Carter. He called me on during my long drive to tell me that Carter went peepee in the potty for the first time. We have been practicing for months, but up to this point we sit, put toilet tissue in the potty and flush. This time he added a step. I don't expect a miracle and a diaper burning ritual over the weekend, but we're making progress...especially for a stubborn little boy!!

Moving on up...
Finally, we were able to move stuff upstairs on Sunday. Poor Ryan had to move it while I supervised. The space was larger than I expected once we got the bed, etc up there. Ryan thinks he and Carter will use it as boy's getaway...I think I may just hide up there myself. We laughed last night as we all piled on the bed up there and watched news on a 17 inch tv while we could be downstairs looking at an obnoxious one in HD. The newness is exciting. So we are now open for visitors. Guests have there own bedroom and bathroom, but Carter comes along with the package.

Garage Makeover
Still have a few ticky things to finish upstairs, but went ahead and made a little progress in the Garage. We decided to make our garage an organized and kid friendly place. We have a large storage closet that now runs along and below the new stairs. This is to house all the non-kid friendly junk.
As far as fun stuff, we (Ryan) framed out a large portion of the front wall and we painted it with chalkboard paint. Our next steps are to get some cabinets on the sides so we can get everything off the ground.
Making slow progress, but will be done eventually. If I can locate the camera... I'll take pics...
